"A Year of Gratitude"

I was inspired, several years ago, by Sarah Ban Breathnach, author of the book, 'Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy." In the book, she talks about the transformative power of gratitude and encourages every person to keep a daily 'gratitude journal' by writing down at least 5 things that they are grateful for every day. I have kept a journal since I was a little girl (though sporadic, at times) and when I kept a gratitude journal in addition to my regular journal, I was amazed at the results.

This year, in an effort to combine my interests in photography, journaling and scrapbooking with my expression of daily gratitude, I've decided to embark upon a project I've entitled, "A Year of Gratitude". This is my novice attempt at photo journalism!

Everyday, I will post at least one photo and one blog (Blogspot) and status (Facebook) about at least one thing I am grateful for in that day. I will date it and only use photos taken on that day (with minor exceptions).

After 12/31/10, I will comprise all the daily photos and blogs into a book which I will then have printed for myself. I'm a little slow to respond to the Universe sometimes, and being that I just received the inspiration to do this on 1/10/10, I will post up images I have from the first of the year and be consistent daily from 1/10/10 forward.

In the process, it is my hope to honor the people, places, situations and blessings in my life. It is also my hope to discover beauty in the everyday stuff of life, to seek the miraculous in the mundane and to celebrate the extraordinary in the ordinary. I am humbled and excited to embark upon this journey. Mahalo for sharing it with me. . .may you find joy and gratitude each and every day of your life. God Bless.

"A Year of Gratitude. . .An End and a Beginning"

12.31.10. As I post my last gratitude entry of the year, I am so grateful for this incredible journey and all I've learned. I DID IT! Thank you all for accompanying me on this adventure, for your friendship and support. I am so blessed. May you find something to be grateful for everyday of your lives. God Bless you and your ohana with joy, love and abundance in this new year. Mahalo Nui Loa.

What can I say, it's been an amazing journey. I've learned so much about myself, about others, about the things in my daily life that are blessings from God. Everyday is a blessing, everyday is a gift and a chance to love, live and find joy and bless others. Sharing it with the Facebook family enhanced the experience and I'm so grateful that it touched others in some small way. May I find something to be grateful for everyday of my life. . .2011, here I come!!! Mahalo ke Akua. . .

I Love to See the Temple. . .

12.30.10. I am grateful for going to the House of the Lord today with Fosi, mom and dad. What a wonderful way to end the year!

I absolutely love being on vacation and spending the morning going to the temple with Fosi, mom and dad. It was a beautiful day and reminded me of what was important. It will be our goal to go to the House of the Lord often in 2011.

I Heart EPIC 'Ohana!

12.29.10. I am grateful today to work for EPIC 'Ohana, Inc. I am so blessed to work for a company that helps to relieve suffering in the world, to work with great people and enjoy what I do, and to have lots of sick leave which enabled me to use it today to rest my back! Thanks, EPIC!

EPIC 'Ohana rocks! The work we do changes society by giving a voice, hope and more power to vulnerable families and children. I am grateful for the work we do and the people I work with. I love my office, my colleagues, my boss, the youth I work with and the people I meet and work with. Mahalo ke Akua for the opportunity to work at EPIC and for the people of Hawaii.

Movie Classics. . .

12.28.10. I am grateful today for opening the last of the youth bank accounts, clean doggies, a day at home resting my back and watching old movies, working on my digital scrapbook and kind words from Lei. . .mahalo.

As the year comes to an end, I'm so very glad and blessed for everything I've been blessed with this year. We've done it-opened 54 bank accounts this year! I went home to rest and the doggies were cleaned and de-bugged and I rested and watched old movies on TCM. I LOVED watching them! Nothing like the old movies. Lei Mahi gave me a beautiful comment about my daily gratitude comments and how it inspired her. . .big smiles. ;)

Shuttefly!

‎12.27.10. I am grateful for a day off spent with my son and the world of Shutterfly to start assembling my 'year of gratitude' photos and blogs. . .

It begins. . .a year of blogs, photos and FB status updates. Trying to figure out Shutterfly and putting everything together is A LOT of work but it will be great in the ends, I know it!!! Worth it! Great to have the day off and hang with Sonny.

"Merry Christmas"

12.25.10. I am grateful today for another Christmas filled with loved ones (including those who have moved on), gifts, movies, food, blessings and a lifetime of wonderful memories. Mele Kalikimaka to all of you and Mahalo ke Akua for my life. . .

Mele Kalikimaka!!! Another wonderful year, another Christmas. Woke up, prayer, opened gifts. I got my 'Blue' cologne from Fosi! I went shopping yesterday at Gamestop and Footlocker for Fosi-headset and gift card. Sonny got his remote control car and other gifts. I rested, watched tv and movies, ate and had Bella and the crew visit and gave me a great gift of a session with Aunty. Made gifts to my siblings of photo collages and CDs with all the old pictures I had scanned in last year for mom's funeral and all the funeral pics. Had Christmas lunch with Apa, Elu, Eseka, Kesi, Fili, TJ. Elu and Kalini stopped by to drop off gifts-a miracle! TJ flew to the Big Island to spend the week with his grandma and uncles. A nice, mellow, enjoyable Christmas. Missed mom and Feala. . .
